Moses Itauma’s Bout Rescheduled to August 8 to Avoid Scheduling Conflict with Anthony Joshua

Fight Postponement Announcement

Promising British heavyweight Moses Itauma has had his upcoming fight postponed to August 8, a change made to steer clear of a scheduling conflict with Anthony Joshua’s anticipated return to the ring. Itauma, who remains undefeated in his professional career with 14 wins—including a powerful knockout against Jermaine Franklin in March—was originally set to step into the ring on July 25 at the iconic O2 Arena in London.

Reason for Rescheduling

However, this date has now been reserved for Joshua, who is gearing up to face Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. To avoid competing for fans’ attention, promoter Frank Warren announced the new date for Itauma’s bout. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Warren said:

“He will fight now on August 8th, that’s what will happen. We could have gone head to head and all this; it is what it is. We’ll just keep moving forward.”

Future Plans for Itauma

No opponent has yet been confirmed for Itauma’s August match. Warren hinted that discussions are ongoing, stating:

“We’re working on a couple of names but until the contract is signed, I don’t like to say anything.”

Itauma’s Career Progression

At just 21 years old, Itauma has quickly ascended the heavyweight division but has faced challenges in securing fight opportunities. His latest achievement, the knockout of Franklin in the fifth round, marked a rare instance this year where he was taken past the second round. With Joshua’s bout occurring two weeks before Itauma’s rescheduled fight, the young contender will have to remain patient before he returns to action. Joshua, meanwhile, is looking to establish his form against Prenga in preparation for a highly anticipated potential clash with fellow Brit, Tyson Fury, later this year.
