Promoter’s Statement
The co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions, Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, proclaimed, “MVPW-06 UK vs. USA presents a significant event in boxing, with a level of competition that is rare to see. We have two of the world’s finest athletes, both ranked in the top ten, facing off at a crucial point in their careers. Mikaela and Chantelle are recognized for their willingness to take on formidable opponents, and this matchup is a perfect example.”
Chantelle Cameron’s Journey
Chantelle Cameron, boasting a record of 22 wins with one defeat and eight knockouts, is currently recognized as ESPN’s No. 5 pound-for-pound female boxer. She has made headlines by moving up two weight classes to claim the WBO junior middleweight title from Michaela Kotaskova in April. Known for her victory over Katie Taylor earlier this year, Cameron incurred a loss in their subsequent rematch, which prompted her shift to junior welterweight where she aims to make history as a two-division champion.
“I’m thrilled that this fight is happening,” Cameron expressed. “I’ve always sought the greatest challenges in women’s boxing, and right now, facing Mikaela is at the top of the list. We are both champions and top contenders, and I am ready to prove myself.”
Mikaela Mayer’s Record
On the other hand, Mikaela Mayer holds a record of 22 wins, two losses, and five knockouts, and ranks No. 7 on ESPN’s pound-for-pound list. She currently holds the WBO welterweight title and accomplished a major feat in October by winning the WBA and WBC junior middleweight titles through a unanimous decision against Mary Spencer. After signing with MVP in March, Mayer was present to witness Cameron’s victory against Kotaskova and subsequently pursued a unification fight. After negotiations regarding the weight class, both parties agreed to move forward at junior middleweight.
“Fighting Chantelle has always been on my bucket list,” Mayer stated. “Both of us are known for our aggressive fighting styles, and I believe this will be one of the most thrilling encounters in boxing history. My priority is to deliver the fights fans are eager to see, and this clash certainly fits that description.”
Co-Main Event: Caroline Dubois
Meanwhile, Caroline Dubois, with an impressive record of 13 wins (one draw) and five knockouts, is set to make her return after a successful defense against Terri Harper during MVPW’s inaugural event in London. Ranked No. 10 on ESPN’s pound-for-pound list, Dubois had previously aimed for a fight with junior lightweight champion Alycia Baumgardner, but has now shifted her focus to defending her titles against Amelia Moore, who comes in with a record of 4-0 and one knockout.
“I am thrilled to fight on home soil again,” Dubois remarked. “The atmosphere in London last time was phenomenal, and I look forward to representing the UK once more. My goal is to keep adding to my accolades, and to do that, I must secure a significant victory in Birmingham.”
