Eddie Hearn embraces challenge with Dana White as talks for a $60M fight intensify

Eddie Hearn’s Potential Match with Dana White

Eddie Hearn, the head of Matchroom Boxing, is inching closer to a boxing match with UFC President Dana White, following an official proposal from KSI’s Misfits Boxing. In a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Hearn shared that while he hasn’t received a formal offer from Turki Alalshikh, preliminary discussions have taken place regarding the potential fight with White.

Hearn expressed a growing interest in the challenge, inspired by White’s call-out during his appearance on The Piers Morgan Show, which piqued Hearn’s enthusiasm for the fight.

Hearn’s Motivation and Training

Hearn, who has some amateur boxing experience, joked about White’s comments labeling him with less-than-flattering terms, while contemplating about possibly earning up to $30 million alongside White for the fight—purses comparable to those of boxing superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

“Let’s see if I’m a p—. Then he says, ‘We’re both bums,’ and we’ll [fight] the start of the night [on a show].”

He is clearly motivated to prove himself and has even begun training, hinting that he is preparing mentally and physically for the bout.

Interestingly, Hearn is a decade younger than White, a factor that might bolster his confidence in the ring, although he acknowledged the possibility of losing. He humorously added that if he did get knocked out yet earned a significant payday, it wouldn’t be the worst outcome.

Anthony Joshua’s Upcoming Fight

On another front, Hearn disclosed that heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua is gearing up for a fight against Tyson Fury in 2026. Both Joshua and Hearn received a two-fight contract, which would allow Joshua to have a return bout in July against an unspecified opponent before facing Fury in November.

Given that Joshua hasn’t fought against a top contender in nearly two years, and is still navigating the emotional aftermath of a car crash that cost him two friends, caution is being exercised regarding the timing and selection of the opponents leading up to this major showdown.

Confirming that Joshua must first focus on his comeback, Hearn insisted they wouldn’t risk taking any chances without a secured deal for the Fury match. Despite Joshua’s exclusive deal with DAZN, there is speculation about a possible agreement that would allow the highly anticipated Fury fight to be broadcast on platforms like Netflix, widening its visibility.

Hearn remained optimistic about finalizing details for this monumental matchup in due time, emphasizing the importance of ensuring everything is perfectly lined up for both Joshua and the potential fight’s implications on his career recovery.
