Jake Paul Anticipates Comeback Following Injury, Embraces Promoter Role Amid Recovery

Jake Paul’s Hiatus from Boxing

Jake Paul finds himself on a lengthy hiatus from the boxing ring following a significant defeat to Anthony Joshua, who knocked him out last December, resulting in a broken jaw for Paul. In the wake of this injury, he has undergone two surgeries and is now aiming to make a comeback in early 2027. This extended absence is particularly noteworthy as it marks the first time since he began his professional career in 2020 that he will not have fought for a complete year.

Embracing the Break

Rather than viewing this break as a setback, Paul is embracing it as an opportunity for rejuvenation, sharing,

“I miss boxing,”

in a recent interview with ESPN.

Currently, Paul is heavily involved in promoting the upcoming boxing event MVPW-02, which features a matchup between Alycia Baumgardner and Bo Mi Re Shin at the prestigious Infosys Theater in Madison Square Garden. He remarked on how this time away from active competition has reignited his passion for the sport.

“It’s good to miss the sport because I hadn’t missed it in a while since I started,”

he explained, highlighting how taking a step back has positively impacted his outlook.

Recovery and Future Plans

Although Paul’s jaw is healing well, he is still awaiting medical clearance to engage in sparring and has only recently resumed training by hitting the heavy bag—a move he had previously avoided to allow for proper recovery.

As he continues to heal, Paul plans to maintain his fitness and stay involved in boxing promotions throughout the year. When he makes his return, it will be in the cruiserweight division, with the ambition of capturing a world championship title. Many speculated that his defeat to Joshua could mark the end of his boxing career, but Paul views this experience as instrumental in his growth as a fighter and his aspiration to improve.

Reflecting on his past, Paul noted,

“I’ve been really pushing it the past six years, almost averaging three fights a year. It’s good to have some time to step back away from the sport and feel like I want to come back into it with a new energy.”

While he is eager to step back into the ring, he is also cautious, stating,

“I don’t want to rush it.”
