Dave Brailsford departs as Manchester United director, reshuffling roles within INEOS

Sir Dave Brailsford Parts Ways with Manchester United

Sir Dave Brailsford has officially parted ways with Manchester United, as confirmed by a recent filing from the Premier League club. At 62 years old, Brailsford had been instrumental in the transition following Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a minority stake in United back in February 2024. His commitment to the football club led him to resign from his position as team principal of the INEOS Grenadiers, a professional cycling team, to focus on his role at United.

Changes in Responsibilities

However, last June, changes were announced that would reduce his responsibilities at the club, prompting a return to his previous position as director of sport within the larger INEOS organization. This shift was solidified on April 30, as indicated by documentation released on Companies House, confirming the end of his director role with Manchester United.

Performance Overview

Brailsford’s tenure began on February 19, 2024, but unfortunately, his year with the club included a disappointing finish, leaving United in 15th place in the league and facing defeat in the Europa League final. Despite this, the current season has seen Manchester United performing better, currently sitting third in the Premier League and comfortably qualifying for the Champions League with three matches remaining in the season.
