Support for Michael Carrick
Amad Diallo has expressed overwhelming support among his Manchester United teammates for the potential continuation of Michael Carrick as their head coach next season. The 44-year-old Carrick stepped in to lead the team after Ruben Amorim’s departure in January and has since successfully guided them to secure a position in the Champions League with three matches still left to play.
Teammates’ Praise
Among the players who have thrived under Carrick’s leadership is Kobbie Mainoo, who spoke highly of the head coach after their thrilling 3-2 victory against rivals Liverpool on Sunday, stating that players would “want to die for” him. Other teammates, such as Matheus Cunha and soon-to-depart Casemiro, have been vocal in supporting Carrick for a permanent role. Amad also added his endorsement, referring to Carrick as “the right man” for the job during a previous statement last month.
Amad’s Interview Insights
In an interview with Sky Sports, Amad acknowledged, “It’s not up to the players to decide who stays here, but I can say everyone is happy to have him as manager. We all support him.”
He further emphasized that Carrick maintains a strong rapport with every member of the squad, contributing to a positive atmosphere in the dressing room.
Team Dynamics and Growth
The Ivorian winger stated, “His presence is appreciated. Even during challenging times, he’s always there to provide support.”
Although Amad has not managed to score or assist since Carrick took charge, he recognizes the coach’s influence on the team’s dynamics.
Reflecting on the overall transformation, Amad noted, “The team feels more united and impactful. In the dressing room, we are closely integrated. If one makes a mistake, it’s viewed as a collective issue. We’re focused on moving forward together to win as a team.”
He credited Carrick and his coaching staff, including Travis Binnion, for instilling this collaborative spirit and vital energy within the squad, saying, “That has been crucial for our growth as a team.”
