Zac Robinson Set to Become Buccaneers’ New Offensive Coordinator, Sources Confirm

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Welcome New Offensive Coordinator

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to welcome Zac Robinson as their new offensive coordinator, according to a source who spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday. The individual requested anonymity as the final details of the agreement are still in progress.

Robinson’s Background

Robinson joins Tampa Bay following a two-year stint as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons, where he previously demonstrated his expertise as both the pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach with the Los Angeles Rams. Notably, he worked with Baker Mayfield, who started four matches in the 2022 season under his guidance.

Significant Changes for the Buccaneers

The Buccaneers’ decision to hire Robinson marks a significant change, as he will become the fifth offensive coordinator for the team in just five seasons. The franchise parted ways with Byron Leftwich after the conclusion of the 2022 season. Following Leftwich, Dave Canales played a key role in rejuvenating Mayfield’s career in 2023 and subsequently accepted the head coaching position with the Carolina Panthers. Mayfield experienced his most successful season yet in 2024 while working with Liam Coen, who has since become the head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In 2025, however, the Buccaneers faced challenges under Josh Grizzard‘s leadership, finishing the season with an 8-9 record. As a result, Grizzard was let go after just one year. In terms of performance, Tampa Bay’s offense saw a sharp decline, plummeting from third overall in total yardage in 2024 to 21st in the following season. The team had previously maintained a top-five status in rushing, passing, and scoring in 2024, but fell to 21st in rushing, 20th in passing, and 18th in scoring in 2025.

Robinson’s Performance in Atlanta

Under Robinson’s direction in Atlanta, the Falcons ranked sixth in total yards in 2024 and fell to 14th the following year, with their scoring output dropping from 13th to 24th. During his time there, he worked with quarterbacks Michael Penix Jr. and veteran Kirk Cousins, showcasing his adaptability and capability in managing offensive schemes.
