Tiah-Mai Ayton: A Rising Star in Boxing
At just 19 years old, Tiah-Mai Ayton has her ambitions set high as she aims to become the youngest undisputed boxing champion in the four-belt era. Following her triumphant professional debut in June 2025, where she won by third-round stoppage, Ayton expressed confidence in her ability to achieve this goal.
“I can definitely do that,”
she stated, inspired by Gabriela Fundora’s remarkable accomplishment of holding all world titles in the flyweight division at only 22 years of age.
Ambitious Goals and Preparation
Ayton, who has competed in more than 300 fights across various combat sports including Muay Thai, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts—with only three defeats, all avenged—is preparing to enter the ring for her second professional match against Lydie Bialic this coming Saturday. Her aspirations are not just for singles records; she aims to be undisputed in multiple weight classes including bantamweight, super-bantamweight, featherweight, and super-featherweight.
“It’s high expectations but I think I can do it,”
she confidently declared.
The Bristol fighter acknowledges that while she has time on her side, the pace of women’s boxing is brisk, as illustrated by fellow British boxer Nina Hughes, who secured a world title in just her fifth professional fight.
Dreams Beyond Boxing
In discussing her dreams, Ayton also mentioned her interest in acquiring a farm, where she would raise animals like cows, sheep, goats, and chickens with the earnings from her boxing career, displaying a level of humility uncommon for someone so young in the sport.
Early Career and Influences
Having debuted professionally under the guidance of renowned promoter Eddie Hearn, known for his work with champions like Katie Taylor, Ayton has already made a significant mark in her short career. Her previous accomplishments include being a five-time national amateur champion and gold medalist at the 57kg weight class during the amateur World Championships last year in Colorado.
Her early journey into fighting began at the tender age of six due to playful rivalries with her sister, which eventually led to a deep-rooted passion for the sport. Although she had opportunities to join Great Britain’s Olympic boxing team, Ayton chose to pursue the professional route, valuing her family ties over the potential Olympic glory and finding the amateur boxing style unsuited to her preferences.
Looking Ahead
As she strides forward with a remarkable 21-0 amateur record into the professional arena, Ayton is aware of the expectations placed upon her.
“I’ve always known I’d be a fighter,”
she affirmed, determined to thrive in the competitive landscape of professional boxing and etch her name in history.
