Wrexham secures Callum Doyle from Manchester City for £7.5 million

Wrexham Secures Signing of Callum Doyle

Wrexham has successfully secured the signing of Callum Doyle from Manchester City, as announced by both clubs on Thursday. The transaction reportedly involves a fee of £7.5 million (approximately $10 million), according to ESPN sources. As part of the agreement, Manchester City has incorporated a buy-back option along with a 25% sell-on clause, should Doyle be transferred again in the future.

Significant Transfers for Wrexham

This acquisition marks a significant moment for Wrexham, following their record-breaking summer transfer of Nathan Broadhead, for which the fee could escalate to £10 million ($13.4 million). Additionally, Wrexham has recently bolstered its lineup by acquiring former England international Conor Coady from Leicester City for £2 million ($2.7 million).

Doyle’s Enthusiasm and Experience

Doyle, age 21, expressed his enthusiasm about joining Wrexham, stating,

“I’m buzzing to join the Club. I’ve been wanting a permanent move for some time now and I can’t wait to get started. I’ve been interested in the Club from afar and kept a close eye on the journey and now I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Wrexham’s Recent Performance

Wrexham, under the ownership of Hollywood celebrities Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, achieved an impressive feat of three consecutive promotions, yet they have struggled at the beginning of their Championship season, suffering defeats in their opening matches against Southampton and West Bromwich Albion.

Manager’s Optimism

Doyle brings valuable Championship experience to the team, having had loan stints with Coventry City, Leicester City, and Norwich City. Wrexham’s manager, Phil Parkinson, welcomed Doyle with optimism, saying,

“We’re delighted to welcome Callum to the Club. He’s a talented young player with a lot of Championship experience, and we’re looking forward to him joining the squad and working with him.”

International Experience

Additionally, Doyle has represented England at various youth levels and has earned five caps for the U21 team.
