Wrexham AFC’s Potential Acquisition of Kieffer Moore
Wrexham AFC is contemplating a potential acquisition of Kieffer Moore, the Welsh international striker currently playing for Sheffield United. Manager Phil Parkinson acknowledged the 32-year-old’s profile is among several players being considered as the club gears up for the upcoming Championship season, marking their first return to the second tier of English football in 44 years. Moore, who has earned 49 caps with the Welsh national team, inked a three-year contract with the Blades last summer and netted five goals during the latest campaign.
“Kieffer is still under contract with Sheffield United, and he’s one of many players we’ve been evaluating throughout the summer,” Parkinson stated in an interview with BBC. He added, “The transfer market is dynamic, with situations changing rapidly from week to week. We’re assessing numerous possibilities both domestically and internationally.”
Recent Transfers and Squad Enhancements
Wrexham has already been active in the transfer market, having recently signed New Zealand international defender Liberato Cacace from Empoli and Josh Windass, who arrived on a free transfer from Sheffield Wednesday. Additionally, the club has bolstered its ranks with goalkeeper Danny Ward, striker Ryan Hardie, and midfielders George Thomason and Lewis O’Brien, recently acquired from Nottingham Forest.
Notably, the club had also shown interest in former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen, although negotiations have yet to advance significantly.
Looking Ahead
As Wrexham prepares for their season opener against Southampton on August 9, the addition of Moore could further enhance their squad depth as they navigate this new chapter in their history under the ownership of Hollywood celebrities Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
