Game Highlights

The match turned dramatically when Colorado, having trailed by as much as 12 points in the first half, began to rally. Alon Michaeli and Barrington Hargress propelled the Buffaloes with back-to-back three-pointers that flipped the game’s momentum, allowing Colorado to take their first lead at 43-42 with just over 13 minutes remaining.

However, their lead was short-lived as Jasper Floyd answered back for West Virginia, scoring a layup that triggered a critical 13-3 run, effectively putting the Mountaineers back in control and ahead for good. Eaglestaff was instrumental during this stretch, scoring eight points.

Statistical Dominance

West Virginia’s performance was dominant in multiple areas, shooting an impressive 52% from the field while limiting Colorado’s shooting percentage to just 39%, and an even lower 33% in the second half. They also outperformed the Buffaloes in rebounding, securing a total of 38 boards compared to Colorado’s 22.

Hargress led the Buffaloes with 15 points, supported by Isaiah Johnson with 12 points, Bangot Dak scoring 11, and Sebastian Rancik contributing 10 points. Colorado’s struggles at the free-throw line were notable, as they managed to hit only 10 out of 14 attempts, despite averaging nearly 19 successful free throws per game prior to this matchup.

Looking Ahead

Notably, Honor Huff continues to shine this season, ranking second nationally with 68 made three-pointers (trailing Belmont’s Tyler Lundblade, who has 70). His overall career total of 360 three-pointers is the third highest among active players, a testament to his shooting prowess.

West Virginia will look to build on this victory when they face Arizona State on Wednesday, while Colorado prepares to host Kansas on Tuesday.
