Voting Now Open for Athens-Area Tennis Player of the Year for 2025

High School Tennis Player of the Year Voting

Fans of high school tennis are invited to cast their votes for the standout player of the year in the Athens area. Significant excitement surrounds this year’s awards, highlighted by a stellar performance from the Oconee County girls’ team, which clinched their state title— their first since 2006—by overcoming Southeast Bulloch.

Cadence Keese’s Remarkable Achievement

Cadence Keese, a senior now transitioned to alumna, played a pivotal role in this victory. She not only earned the distinction of 3A-Region 8 Player of the Year for her remarkable singles play but also concluded the season with an impressive 20-2 record. Remarkably, she accomplished this while celebrating another championship in track the day before the tennis victory.

Nomination and Voting Process

In light of these performances, coaches have put forth their nominations for the all-area tennis team. The public poll will remain open until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, allowing everyone a chance to make their voices heard. For inquiries, readers can reach out to Sara Tidwell, the high school sports reporter for the Athens Banner-Herald, via email.

Looking Ahead

The upcoming polls present an opportunity for tennis enthusiasts to recognize the top male and female players in the area for the 2025 season, alongside exclusive insights from the Athens Banner-Herald.
