Vancouver Canucks Face Setback with Lekkerimäki’s Surgery
The Vancouver Canucks are bracing for another setback as promising forward Jonathan Lekkerimäki is set to undergo shoulder surgery, dealing a significant blow to his season. According to Rick Dhaliwal from CHEK TV, the procedure will sideline Lekkerimäki for the entirety of the 2025-26 season.
Season Overview
Lekkerimäki, who has shown impressive skills in the AHL this year, has had quite a rollercoaster, going back and forth between the Vancouver Canucks and their AHL affiliate, the Abbotsford Canucks. In his time with Abbotsford, he managed to score 13 goals and provided seven assists over 21 games. Additionally, he contributed two goals and one assist in 13 appearances at the NHL level.
Injury Challenges
Unfortunately, his season started on a rocky note. He exited a game against the Washington Capitals on October 19 due to injury and was unable to re-enter the lineup for nearly a month. He also faced further injury-related absences in late December and early January.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, the Canucks are scheduled to resume play on February 25, taking on the Winnipeg Jets at home with a puck drop planned for 7:00 PM PT.
