USA Hockey Announces Coaching Roster for 2026 Winter Olympics
USA Hockey has officially set its coaching roster for the upcoming men’s team at the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will be hosted in Milan, Italy, starting February 11. On Wednesday, the organization revealed that Mike Sullivan, the head coach of the New York Rangers, will lead the team with a strong support staff comprised of notable figures in the sport.
Coaching Staff
Joining him as assistant coaches are John Hynes, the current head coach of the Minnesota Wild, David Quinn—who is also part of Sullivan’s Rangers staff as an assistant—and experienced NHL coach John Tortorella.
In addition to the coaching quartet, Mike Buckley has been appointed as the goaltending coach, complementing the group with Mike King and Madison Nikkel taking on the roles of video coaches.
General Manager’s Statement
Bill Guerin, the general manager for the men’s team, expressed his optimism about the assembled staff, stating:
“We’re extremely fortunate to have a tremendous staff. Everyone is extremely proud to represent our country and focused on our collective effort to bring home a gold medal to the United States.”
Significance of the Upcoming Olympics
Sullivan has prior experience in international competition, having coached Team USA to a silver medal during the recent 4 Nations Face-off. This Olympic cycle marks a significant change, as it will be the first instance in over ten years that NHL players are permitted to compete, following absences from the 2018 and 2022 Olympic Games due to league restrictions. The coaching team is poised to make the most out of this unique opportunity as they prepare for the challenges ahead at the Winter Games.
