Annual Jack State Invitational

On July 19, the community will gather for the annual Jack State Invitational, a cherished event organized by the Lewis County Tennis Association (LCTA). This year’s tournament will take place at the Jack State Courts located on the premises of W.F. West High School. The LCTA is reaching out to individuals of all ages, particularly those who have played tennis under the mentorship of the late Jack State or anyone who shares a love for the sport, to join in this meaningful gathering.

Event Highlights

Participants can look forward to a day filled with friendly match play, skills-focused sessions, and social interactions over food, making it a perfect opportunity for tennis enthusiasts to connect. Jack State had a profound influence on the W.F. West tennis program, beginning his coaching career in 1975 and nurturing countless players throughout his remarkable 50 years with the boys’ team and 47 years with the girls’ team before his passing in January.

Jack State Foundation

In the wake of his death, which deeply affected the community, his children, Kristin and Kyle, have founded the Jack State Foundation. This organization aims to support student athletes by removing financial barriers to participation in sports and providing opportunities to engage in tennis.

RSVP and Tribute

The invitation to RSVP for the event can be found on the Lewis County Tennis Association’s Facebook event page. A tribute on this page highlights Jack’s passion for bringing people together through tennis, stating:

“Jack loved this event and loved to see so many tennis friends come together for a good time on the courts. His legacy continues as we support future generations in the sport of tennis.”

As the tournament approaches, the enthusiasm surrounding it reflects the enduring impact of Jack State on the local tennis community.
