Welsh Boxing Twins Shine in Professional Debut
Welsh boxing twins Ioan and Garan Croft continued their successful outings in the professional ring, adding to their unbeaten records during a night of sparring in Altrincham. The brothers, aged 24, marked their debut with Matchroom Promotions on a card that also featured the match between Glenn Byrne and William Crolla.
Garan Croft’s Victory
The evening began with Garan Croft, who showcased his skills against Serbian boxer Novak Radulovic. Garan, who previously fought at the Cardigan ABC club, controlled the bout over eight rounds, defying the challenges posed by his opponent. Although Radulovic demonstrated resilience—managing to withstand significant blows, especially in the fourth and fifth rounds—Garan emerged victorious, securing every round on the judges’ scorecards for his eighth consecutive win as a professional.
Ioan Croft’s Challenge
Soon after, it was Ioan’s turn to take the ring, where he faced a tougher challenge in the form of England’s Marco Simmonds in the super welterweight division. While Ioan effortlessly maneuvered around the ring, showcasing impressive footwork, he encountered significant resistance from Simmonds, who managed to deliver some sharp counters, including a cut above Ioan’s eye. Despite the tough competition, Ioan secured a decisive win, with the judges scoring the contest 80-72 in his favor, bringing his record to an impressive six victories without loss.
Support and Future Prospects
Both brothers received enthusiastic support from a group of fans who traveled from north Pembrokeshire to cheer them on, creating an electric atmosphere throughout their matches. Eddie Hearn, the prominent Matchroom boss who had signed the twins just six weeks prior, was in attendance, marking another key moment in their budding careers, as they took significant steps forward in the boxing world as a formidable duo.
