UConn Continues Dominance with 42nd Straight Win Over Creighton, Fudd Shines with Record Milestone

UConn Women’s Basketball Dominates Creighton

The University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team, ranked first in the nation, achieved a decisive victory against Creighton, winning 94-44 and extending their winning streak to an impressive 42 games. Azzi Fudd led the charge with a standout performance, scoring 19 points, including three pivotal three-pointers that elevated her to the milestone of 250 career 3-pointers, solidifying her place as the 10th player in the program’s history to reach this achievement.

Key Contributions and Team Performance

Alongside Fudd, Allie Ziebell contributed significantly with 20 points, while Sarah Strong added another 16. The Huskies, boasting a flawless record of 26-0 overall and dominating the Big East at 15-0, showcased their prowess on the court, marking their 53rd consecutive win in Big East regular-season play. Their success was further underscored by Ashlynn Shade and Kayleigh Heckel, who both chipped in with 13 points each.

Game Highlights

Creighton had a promising start, initially leading the game by making their first three attempts from beyond the arc. However, they struggled to maintain that momentum and ended up shooting only 3-for-13 from three-point range for the remainder of the first half. In contrast, Fudd sparked a crucial 12-2 run in the first quarter, which allowed UConn to establish a commanding lead.

By the time the second quarter ended, the Huskies had outscored the Bluejays 15-2 during the first part of the period, and Fudd’s contributions combined with Heckel’s offensive efforts saw them pull further ahead.

UConn’s dominance continued into the third quarter, highlighted by Fudd’s consecutive three-pointers, which brought the score to 60-31. As a team, UConn managed to hit a season-high 53.8% from the three-point line, marking a significant achievement as they won by 30 or more points for the 14th consecutive time—a new program record.

Looking Ahead

Creighton, now at 12-13 overall with an 8-8 conference record, faced an uphill battle, particularly during the third quarter where they managed just one successful shot out of 16 attempts.

Looking ahead, Creighton is set to host Villanova on Sunday, while UConn will travel to Marquette on Saturday for their next matchup.
