BC Hockey Hall of Fame 2026 Inductees
The BC Hockey Hall of Fame has revealed its 2026 inductee list, spotlighting prominent figures from the hockey realm, among them, ex-Vancouver Canucks head coach Travis Green. Joining Green in this distinguished cohort are former NHL players Josh Georges and Andrew Ladd, along with contributors Malcom Ashford and Daryl Reaugh, and the 2009 and 2010 Vernon Vipers team.
Travis Green’s Hockey Journey
Hailing from Castlegar, British Columbia, Travis Green kicked off his hockey journey in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Spokane Chiefs, amassing an impressive 341 points across 283 games before being selected 23rd overall in the 1989 NHL Draft by the New York Islanders. Green officially made his NHL debut on November 19, 1992, quickly following up with his first goal two days later.
Over a remarkable 14-year stint in the NHL, he participated in 970 games, tallying 455 points, and secured both a World Championship title in 1996 and a Spengler Cup victory in 2007. He wrapped up his playing career following the 2006-07 season.
Coaching Career
Transitioning to coaching, Green began his post-playing career as an assistant coach for the WHL’s Portland Winterhawks, leading them to a Memorial Cup appearance in 2013. He eventually took charge of the AHL’s Utica Comets for four seasons before landing the head coaching role with the Canucks in 2017. During his tenure with Vancouver, which spanned over four and a half years, Green compiled a record of 133 wins, 147 losses, and 34 overtime losses while steering the team to ten playoff victories. He now heads the Ottawa Senators, a position he has held for the past two seasons.
