Tottenham Spurs Agree on £55 Million Deal for West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus

Transfer News: Mohammed Kudus Joins Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur has successfully negotiated a transfer for Mohammed Kudus, securing the Ghanaian midfielder from West Ham United for approximately £55 million (around $74.7 million). The deal is expected to conclude with Kudus undergoing a medical examination on Thursday, before finalizing a six-year contract at the club.

Transfer Details

Earlier reports indicated that Spurs had initially proposed a £50 million offer for the talented 24-year-old, but this was rejected as discussions progressed. Notably, Kudus is eager to join Tottenham if he departs from West Ham, and it is anticipated that personal terms will not present any difficulties.

Contract and Performance

Currently, Kudus is under contract until 2028, with a buyout clause that was active only for the first ten days of July. This clause was set at:

  • £80 million ($108 million) for continental teams
  • £85 million for clubs in the Premier League
  • £120 million for those in Saudi Arabia

On the pitch, Kudus made a significant contribution to West Ham last season, recording five goals and four assists across 35 Premier League appearances, following his transfer from Ajax for €41.5 million in the summer of 2023. His performance, however, was a drop from his debut season where he tallied eight goals and nine assists.

Future Prospects for Tottenham

In tandem with this acquisition, Tottenham is actively seeking to bolster their attacking options, which includes pursuing a permanent deal for Mathys Tel, who had a productive loan spell from Bayern Munich during the second half of last season. Tel, who is 20 years old, has already committed to a six-year contract after a move that could cost up to €45 million.

Additionally, Spurs have expressed interest in signing Bryan Mbeumo, a player who could link up with his former coach at Brentford, Thomas Frank. However, Mbeumo has conveyed his preference to join Manchester United, who are currently working to finalize a transfer after having two previous bids declined.
