Tottenham Hotspur’s Board Declares Club “Not for Sale” After Dismissing Two Acquisition Offers

Tottenham Hotspur’s Firm Stance on Club Sale

In a decisive message to prospective buyers, Tottenham Hotspur’s board has firmly announced that the club is “not for sale” after dismissing two separate inquiries regarding its purchase. This comes in the wake of significant changes in the club’s leadership, most notably the resignation of Daniel Levy, who stepped down last Thursday after a lengthy tenure as chairman since 2001, following pressures from principal owners ENIC, led by the Lewis family trust.

Potential Takeover Attempts

The reports of a potential takeover, particularly linked to Amanda Staveley, the former co-owner of Newcastle, have been circulating for nearly a year. Staveley has been associated with attempts to acquire the club through her investment firm, PCP International Finance. However, these ambitions were directly challenged by the recent statement from Tottenham’s management.

Board’s Response to Offers

On Sunday evening, the Spurs board confirmed receiving and promptly rejecting preliminary offers from both Staveley’s PCP International Finance and a consortium headed by investors Dr. Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited. The board reiterated their stance that ENIC has no plans to relinquish its stake in the club, which currently controls nearly 87% of Tottenham, although there are some publicly traded shares.

Future Focus and Leadership

While it has been previously indicated that talks with potential investors for a minority stake were in progress, including denied discussions with Qatar Sports Investments, the Lewis family trust remains open to external investment opportunities. However, their immediate priority appears to be enhancing the club’s performance on the pitch. This has led to a strategic focus on supporting newly appointed non-executive chairman Peter Charrington, CEO Vinai Venkatesham, and head coach Thomas Frank, all of whom joined the organization in 2025, in a concerted effort to drive Tottenham towards greater success in future competitions.

Upcoming Statements

In the coming days, Staveley is expected to issue a statement through PCP, clarifying her position and intentions regarding any potential bid for the club.
