Tobias Bjornfot Set to Make Season Debut
Tobias Bjornfot, the 24-year-old defenseman, is set to play his first game of the 2025-26 NHL season tonight against the Washington Capitals. He will replace Donovan Sebrango in the Florida Panthers’ lineup.
Career Overview
Despite being a part of the NHL for several seasons, Bjornfot has competed in 15 games with the Panthers without scoring any points. Over his entire NHL career, which includes tenures with the Panthers, the Los Angeles Kings, and the Vegas Golden Knights, he has participated in 134 games and has netted a single goal along with a total of 15 points, averaging just over 16 minutes of ice time per game.
Draft and Recent Achievements
Bjornfot was drafted in the first round of the 2019 NHL draft by the Kings, being the 22nd pick overall. Recently, he earned a spot at the 2026 AHL All-Star game as a representative of the Charlotte Checkers, joining winger Jack Devine.
Lineup Changes and Team Performance
On the other hand, Sebrango exits the lineup having had a challenging performance: he recorded a minus-2 rating and received seven minutes in penalties during just over 12 minutes of play in his last outing. Since being claimed off waivers from the Ottawa Senators, he has participated in 16 games for the Panthers.
Upcoming Game Details
Tonight marks the conclusion of the Panthers’ intensive six-game road trip, with the team holding a record of 2 wins and 3 losses thus far. They are eager to conclude this stretch with a victory. Bjornfot will pair with Jeff Petry on the third defensive line as they face off against the Capitals.
