Thunder Dominate Magic in 128-92 Victory
The Oklahoma City Thunder delivered a dominant performance against the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night, securing a decisive 128-92 victory. The highlight of the evening was Isaiah Hartenstein, who achieved his inaugural triple-double, contributing 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in just 23 minutes of play. This milestone places him among the few Thunder players who have accomplished a triple-double.
Standout Performances
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, another standout for Oklahoma City, added 20 points and nine assists to the scoreboard, while Lu Dort chipped in with 18 points. Chet Holmgren, the team’s rookie All-Star, also made his mark with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Thunder (40-11) clinched their 40th win of the season, becoming the first team to reach this milestone.
Despite missing key players—Jalen Williams due to a hamstring injury and Ajay Mitchell with an abdominal strain—Oklahoma City thrived in front of an enthusiastic crowd, celebrating their fourth annual HBCU Night as part of Black History Month.
First Quarter Highlights
Isaiah Joe made a significant impact, scoring 22 points, including a buzzer-beater 3-pointer that elevated the Thunder to a staggering 39-14 lead by the end of the first quarter—a quarter in which the Magic struggled, posting their lowest points of the season. Joe even electrified the crowd with a spectacular left-handed dunk on Paolo Banchero, completing a three-point play that pushed their lead to 56-24.
Game Progression
The Thunder maintained control throughout the game, heading into halftime with a commanding 68-41 advantage. As the game progressed, the primary focus for Oklahoma City turned to whether Gilgeous-Alexander would maintain his streak of scoring at least 20 points in a game. He began the second half with 12 points but did not meet the 20-point mark until late in the fourth quarter, shortly before he made a free throw, putting him within five games of tying Wilt Chamberlain’s historic record of 126 consecutive games of scoring 20 points or more.
Magic’s Struggles
On the other side, Jalen Suggs led the Magic with 20 points, while Paolo Banchero contributed 17 points. Unfortunately for Orlando, Franz Wagner remained sidelined for his fifth consecutive game due to a high left ankle sprain.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, the Orlando Magic will prepare to host the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday, while the Thunder will travel to San Antonio for their next matchup on Wednesday.
