Former Blackhawks on Waivers
Several former players associated with the Chicago Blackhawks have recently found themselves on the National Hockey League’s waiver wire as of September 30. Notably, Isaak Phillips, Matthew Highmore, and Josiah Slavin are the names making headlines.
Isaak Phillips
Isaak Phillips, who was traded to the Winnipeg Jets during the last season, is among those placed on waivers. During his tenure with the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League (AHL), he played 39 games, scoring three goals and amassing eight points, though his performance was marked by a minus-11 rating. In total, Phillips contributed to the Blackhawks over four seasons, participating in 56 games and achieving two goals and 12 points along with 31 penalty minutes.
Matthew Highmore
Highmore, another former Blackhawk, is currently on waivers after being signed by the New York Islanders this off-season. He had a stint with Chicago from the 2017-18 season through the 2020-21 season, where he appeared in 73 games and notched four goals and ten points, while also registering 69 hits and a minus-10 rating.
Josiah Slavin
Lastly, Josiah Slavin, drafted in the seventh round by the Blackhawks in 2018, has been placed on waivers by the Carolina Hurricanes. Slavin saw limited action in the NHL, playing just 15 games for Chicago during the 2021-22 season, where he provided an assist. Since then, he has primarily competed at the AHL level.
