Terri Harper Signs with Most Valuable Promotions
Terri Harper, a prominent figure in women’s boxing and a three-weight world champion, has officially inked a deal with Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), the company headed by Jake Paul. Harper, who boasts a record of 16 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws—along with 6 knockouts—is currently the WBO lightweight champion and has previously held titles in both junior middleweight and junior lightweight divisions.
Announcement and Reactions
The announcement was made on Wednesday during a Sky Sports segment by Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of MVP. He showcased his enthusiasm about Harper’s addition to the roster, stating:
“It’s a thrill to welcome Terri, the first UK female boxer to achieve three world titles across various weights. Over the course of her career spanning 20 bouts, she has fought in five divisions.”
Bidarian also drew parallels between Harper and Amanda Serrano, a celebrated seven-division champion, noting that both fighters share similar qualities in their paths to success despite not having extensive amateur backgrounds. He expressed confidence in Harper’s potential, saying:
“Her journey is inspiring. Like Amanda, she’s demonstrated her capabilities across various weight classes, and we believe the future holds great promise for her.”
Career Highlights
At age 28, Harper clinched her inaugural world title in 2020, defeating Eva Wahlström for the WBC junior lightweight championship. She subsequently faced tough opponents like Alycia Baumgardner and Sandy Ryan, suffering knockout losses in both bouts, but rebounded with a significant victory over Rhiannon Dixon to reclaim the WBO lightweight title in September 2024.
Transition to MVP
Harper’s transition from Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing to MVP marks a significant step in her career, placing her among an increasing number of elite female fighters from the UK, such as Chantelle Cameron, Savannah Marshall, and Ellie Scotney, who have recently signed with the promotion.
