Terance Mann looks forward to new chapter with Brooklyn Nets

Terance Mann’s Transition to the Brooklyn Nets

After spending six years as a second-round draft choice with the Los Angeles Clippers, Terance Mann has transitioned from a hopeful candidate struggling for a place on the roster to a dependable bench player, regularly logging over 20 minutes per game under head coach Tyronn Lue. Now, he sets his sights on a fresh start with the Brooklyn Nets.

Journey Through Trades

Mann’s journey took him through a brief stint in Atlanta, where he was included in the trade involving Bogdan Bogdanovic, before heading to Brooklyn as part of the multi-team deal that brought Kristaps Porzingis to the Celtics. Pundits suggested that Mann’s inclusion in this trade was largely a maneuver for the Nets to secure the No. 22 draft pick, which was used to select Drake Powell. However, Mann himself sees a different narrative unfolding.

“It’s going to be crazy to play in an environment like that, something new. I’m one of the oldest guys on the team and I want to be a leader, showing them what it takes to win,” Mann noted.

He has been actively engaging with his new teammates this offseason, identifying a palpable hunger and willingness to learn among them.

Reflections on His Time in Los Angeles

Reflecting on his departure from Los Angeles, Mann expressed relief and excitement about the trade.

“I felt like my time in LA was up and it was time for me to get out of there. I did six seasons there as a second-round pick, which is something a lot of players don’t get to experience, so I was genuinely excited to get traded to the East Coast and to an organization like Atlanta. The coaching staff was fantastic, and we had a great time.”

Performance and Impact

In his previous season with the Clippers, Mann made a significant contribution, averaging 8.8 points and 3.4 rebounds over 25 minutes per game while starting in 71 of those games. He boasts a career shooting percentage of 37.2% from beyond the arc.

More than just his statistics, Mann represents the kind of seasoned professional the Nets are seeking—a player who has dedicated himself to improving his skills and understanding of the game, adept at guiding less experienced teammates.
