In a commanding performance, the No. 25 North Carolina Tar Heels triumphed over Wake Forest, posting an impressive 84-56 victory this past Sunday in Winston-Salem. Leading the charge were Nyla Brooks and Nyla Harris, who recorded 21 and 19 points respectively. With this win, North Carolina improves its record to 20-5 overall and 9-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), marking the 34th instance in school history the program has achieved at least 20 wins in a season.

The game had a brisk start, with Wake Forest initially taking a 9-6 lead. However, this early advantage quickly vanished as North Carolina shifted gears. Capitalizing on their shooting skills, the Tar Heels executed a stunning 16-0 run, featuring four three-pointers—two from Brooks and two from teammate Lanie Grant. As a result, the Tar Heels completed the first quarter with a 22-11 lead.
Brooks continued to shine, contributing two additional three-pointers in the second quarter, allowing North Carolina to establish a 39-29 lead at halftime. The third quarter witnessed Harris’s noteworthy performance, where she added 11 points to help the Tar Heels expand their margin to 65-42 heading into the final period. With about 3.5 minutes left in the game, a short jumper by Blanca Thomas made it a 30-point gap (78-48), underscoring the dominance of the Tar Heels.

On the other side, Milan Brown led Wake Forest in scoring with 13 points. Indya Nivar also had a solid all-around contribution to North Carolina with nine points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, while Brooks shone from beyond the arc, converting five of the team’s 11 three-pointers.
