Buddy Boeheim’s Return to the NBA
In Oklahoma City, Buddy Boeheim is making his mark once again on the professional basketball scene. The 14th jersey of the Oklahoma City Thunder was donned by Boeheim on February 12, 2026, as he participated in a game against the Milwaukee Bucks at the Paycom Center.
Since rejoining the NBA, Buddy has been signed to a two-way contract with the Thunder, where he has played in three games. During this stretch, he has successfully converted two of six attempts, all from beyond the arc. While his playing time may be limited on a contending team, being part of a squad aiming for the championship presents a valuable opportunity.
Isaiah Joe, a fellow teammate and sharpshooter, has praised Buddy, stating, “He’s a great guy, a great shooter. We always have our competition every day. You can see whenever he touches the floor with the minutes that he gets that he’s always ready to knock a shot down.”
Kadary Richmond’s Progress
In addition to Boeheim, another former Orange, Kadary Richmond, has made strides in the league. Richmond joined the Washington Wizards on a 10-day contract and has also participated in three games. Unlike Boeheim, Richmond has logged more minutes on a team that is not currently in playoff contention, averaging 8.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.
His defensive prowess stood out recently when he recorded six steals against the Indiana Pacers.
Former Syracuse Athletes in the NBA
Both players are part of a larger group of former Syracuse athletes making their presence felt in the NBA this season. Jerami Grant has been notably impactful for the Portland Trail Blazers, amassing averages of 18.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. With the Blazers contending for a spot in the Play-In games, Grant appears poised to participate in the postseason festivities.
As the season progresses toward its conclusion, the performance of these players will be closely monitored.
