Concerns Over Djokovic’s Scrutiny
When asked about Djokovic’s performance and the pressure surrounding the 38-year-old champion, Sabalenka expressed her concerns over the scrutiny he faces. She voiced her belief that the constant questioning around Djokovic adds undue stress to his experience, stating:
“You are trying to put all the pressure possible on Novak. Leave him alone. Look at him. He is fit, strong. Mentally, physically, I think he’s ready to play, I don’t know, another two, three years.”
Acknowledging Djokovic’s recent challenges on the court, Sabalenka noted that such fluctuations are typical, especially as players age, saying:
“Of course, everyone has ups and downs. The older you get, the harder it is to stay consistent at that level.”
However, she reinforced her confidence in Djokovic’s abilities when he is in good health and physical condition, urging fans and the media to allow him space, stating:
“Let him be.”

The conversation also touched upon Rafael Nadal’s recent retirement ceremony, which stirred nostalgia among fans who reminisce about the legendary careers of the sport’s elite players. Sabalenka emphasized that when Djokovic decides to retire, many will reflect on how they took his extraordinary talents for granted, noting:
“Imagine if he retired tomorrow, everyone would be sad, right?”
She also drew attention to the emerging talents like Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, who will eventually take the stage.
