Stephon Castle’s Stunning 40-Point Triple-Double Leads Spurs Past Mavericks, Marking Fourth Straight Win

Spurs Extend Winning Streak

In a thrilling matchup on Saturday, the San Antonio Spurs extended their winning streak to four games by defeating the Dallas Mavericks 138-125, with standout guard Stephon Castle leading the charge. Castle showcased his incredible skills, achieving a career-best 40 points complemented by 12 rebounds and 12 assists, marking his second career triple-double. This remarkable performance places him alongside Spurs legend David Robinson, as the only players in the franchise’s history to achieve a 40-point triple-double.

First-Half Dominance

San Antonio set the tone early with an explosive first-half performance, scoring 81 points before the break, which is a season high for the team. Alongside Castle, Devin Vassell contributed significantly with 17 points, while the highly touted rookie Victor Wembanyama recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Spurs currently boast a record of 36-16, holding the second position in the tightly contested Western Conference.

Mavericks’ Struggles

The Mavericks, still reeling from a prior loss to San Antonio just days earlier, received strong performances from Klay Thompson, who netted 19 points, and Brandon Williams and Max Christie with 18 and 17 points respectively. Newcomer Cooper Flagg also chipped in with 14 points. The Dallas squad has recently seen some roster changes, with Marvin Bagley III, A.J. Johnson, and Tyus Jones making their debuts after trades involving prominent players, including Anthony Davis. Bagley showed promise right from the start, scoring eight points in his first five minutes and ending the game with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

Highlight of the Game

Adding excitement to the evening, Castle’s triple-double was capped off with a spectacular windmill dunk following an offensive rebound, extending the Spurs’ lead to 129-108 late in the game. The young guard had previously recorded his first triple-double in November 2025 against the Golden State Warriors.

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead, the Spurs will embark on their annual Rodeo Road Trip and will not return to their home arena, the Frost Bank Center, until March 5. During this stretch, they will play a couple of games in Austin, which are classified as home matches. The Mavericks will travel to Phoenix for their next contest, while the Timberwolves are set to face off against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.
