In a thrilling encounter on Wednesday evening, Stanford University emerged victorious against Notre Dame, clinching an 86-78 win and marking their third consecutive victory. The standout performances came from Ebuka Okorie, who notched 24 points, and Jeremy Dent-Smith, contributing 21 to the scoreboard.

Game Highlights

Stanford seized control of the game roughly nine minutes before the halftime break, establishing a lead that they would maintain for the remainder of the match. The Cardinal even stretched their advantage to a sizable 11 points during the second half. Despite a late surge from Notre Dame, who managed to narrow the gap to just three points on two occasions inside the final two minutes, decisive 3-pointers from Jaylen Thompson and Dent-Smith kept Stanford ahead. To cap off the victory, Dent-Smith was flawless at the free-throw line, sinking all four attempts.

Shooting Performance

The Cardinal showcased remarkable shooting, boasting a field goal percentage of 57%, hitting 32 of their 56 attempts, and impressive long-range accuracy of 52% from beyond the arc with 12 successful 3-pointers. Okorie’s performance included three 3-pointers and a commendable 10-of-19 shooting, alongside seven assists. Dent-Smith was particularly effective from three-point territory, making five 3-pointers in total. Additional support for Stanford came from AJ Rohosy with 11 points and Donavin Young contributing 10 points, pushing their season record to 19-11 overall and 8-9 within the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Notre Dame’s Efforts

On the other side, Notre Dame’s Jalen Haralson was the highest scorer for his team with 19 points, bolstered by an impressive 13 of 15 from the free-throw line. Cole Certa added 17 points, while Braeden Shrewsberry chipped in 14; together, they made six of the Fighting Irish’s nine 3-pointers. In a solid first half, Okorie was instrumental, scoring 13 points and providing four assists, helping to establish a 45-37 lead at halftime, in which Stanford shot an astonishing 69% from the field.
