St. Louis Blues Promote 2023 Draft Picks
The St. Louis Blues have officially promoted all of their first-round selections from the 2023 NHL Draft to the main roster. On Monday, the team announced the call-up of forward Otto Stenberg and defenseman Theo Lindstein from their AHL affiliate, Springfield Thunderbirds. These new additions will join Dalibor Dvorsky, who has already made a mark in St. Louis this season.
Player Highlights
Dvorsky, the 10th overall pick in the draft, has participated in 53 games with the Blues, accumulating a total of 15 points comprised of nine goals and six assists. Prior to the Olympic break, Stenberg, who was selected 25th overall, had a brief stint in the NHL, playing in 18 games and recording eight points (one goal and seven assists). This will be Lindstein’s debut at the NHL level; he was picked 29th and has played 56 games in the AHL, where he scored 14 points with six goals and eight assists.
Roster Changes and Opportunities
With the NHL Trade Deadline now passed, teams are allowed to have unlimited rosters, assuming they remain compliant with salary cap regulations. The Blues have recently made trades, moving players like Brayden Schenn to the New York Islanders and Justin Faulk to the Detroit Red Wings, which has potentially opened up opportunities for their younger talent.
Recent Performance
Earlier this week, the Blues showcased their robust performance by sweeping a four-game road trip, marking only the third time in franchise history they have achieved such a feat. Noteworthy highlights from their latest victory against the Anaheim Ducks include goaltender Joel Hofer’s fifth shutout of the season, as well as significant contributions from newcomers Jonathan Drouin and Jake Holl during the match, particularly in the second period.
