St. Louis Blues bolster their prospects by signing college standout Felix Trudeau to entry-level deal

St. Louis Blues Sign Felix Trudeau

In a strategic move to enhance their roster, the St. Louis Blues have inked a two-year entry-level contract with Felix Trudeau, a notable college free agent, effective at the start of the next season. Trudeau, who is hailed as one of the top undrafted talents this year, will begin his professional career with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the American Hockey League (AHL) under a tryout arrangement for the remainder of the current season.

Trudeau’s Impressive College Career

At 23, Trudeau has just concluded an impressive season with Sacred Heart University, where he stood out as one of the nation’s elite scorers, netting 25 goals—placing him second overall in the country—and accumulating a total of 48 points in 39 games, which earned him a tie for sixth position in NCAA Division I scoring. His outstanding performance was further recognized by his peers as he was awarded the Atlantic Hockey player of the year.

Blues’ Organizational Changes

As the Blues navigate through a period of significant change—having not celebrated a Stanley Cup victory in the last seven years—they are shifting towards embracing a younger roster. Notably, general manager Doug Armstrong is set to pass the torch to Alexander Steen later this summer, marking a pivotal transition for the franchise.

Following this intent to rebuild, the team also made headlines recently by trading captain Brayden Schenn to the New York Islanders and had a proposed deal set to send Colton Parayko to Buffalo, although the veteran defenseman opted to utilize his no-trade clause to remain with St. Louis.

Commitment to Revitalization

This new contract with Trudeau reflects the Blues’ commitment to revitalizing their team dynamics as they step into this new phase of their organizational strategy.
