Spurs’ Castle to be reassessed after sustaining hip flexor strain; McLaughlin also injured

Spurs Reevaluate Stephon Castle’s Injury

The San Antonio Spurs are set to reevaluate guard Stephon Castle’s condition in one to two weeks following a hip flexor strain he incurred during a matchup against the Sacramento Kings. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the promising young player was sidelined for the remainder of the game after feeling discomfort in the first half. Despite his soreness, Castle was uncertain about the exact moment he aggravated the injury.

Castle’s Rookie Season Highlights

At just 21 years old, Castle has emerged as one of the standout rookies in the 2024-25 NBA season, contributing notable averages of 17.3 points, 7.5 assists, and 5.8 rebounds per game. On November 12, he and fellow Spurs standout Victor Wembanyama made history by achieving triple-doubles in the same game against the Golden State Warriors, marking a milestone as the first duo in Spurs history to earn 20-point triple-doubles in a single contest.

Update on Jordan McLaughlin

In a separate update regarding player health, the Spurs also reported that veteran guard Jordan McLaughlin underwent an MRI on his right hamstring, resulting in a diagnosis of a hamstring strain. McLaughlin sustained the injury during a workout session at the Victory Capital Performance Center on Monday.
