Spurs Appoint Fabian Otte as Head of Goalkeeping Following Departure from Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur Appoints Fabian Otte as Goalkeeping Coach

Tottenham Hotspur has appointed 34-year-old Fabian Otte, who recently served as the goalkeeping coach at Liverpool, to lead their goalkeeping department. His hiring comes just a week after he parted ways with Liverpool, where he worked for a single season.

Otte will join the revamped coaching staff under Thomas Frank, who took over from Ange Postecoglou last month as head coach.

New Coaching Staff

Alongside Otte, former Brentford assistants Justin Cochrane, Chris Haslam, and Joe Newton will also be part of Frank’s new team, while set-piece coach Andreas Georgson transitions from Manchester United to Spurs.

Otte’s recent exit from Liverpool followed a broader reorganization instigated by head coach Arne Slot, during which Brazilian goalkeeping legend Claudio Taffarel also departed. Xavi Valero, who previously contributed to the coaching efforts during Rafa Benitez’s tenure at Liverpool, has been brought back as the new head of first-team goalkeeping coaching.

Otte’s Coaching Background

Prior to his time at Anfield, Otte had notable experiences coaching with the U.S. men’s national team, Burnley, and Borussia Monchengladbach, making his appointment at Tottenham a point of significant interest amid a period of transition for the club.

Coaching Dynamics at Spurs

Additionally, three coaching staff members from Postecoglou’s time, including Mile Jedinak, Nick Montgomery, and Sergio Raimundo, have followed the former coach out of the club. Interestingly, Ryan Mason, who previously was an interim head coach, has recently accepted the managerial role at West Bromwich Albion just before Postecoglou’s shift, adding to the turbulence in Spurs’ coaching dynamics.
