Snoop Dogg’s Venture into Soccer
Snoop Dogg is not solely focused on his music career; he has also made significant strides in the world of soccer. Recently, the rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, took to social media alongside retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady and Rob McElhenney, a star from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.” The trio connected in a light-hearted Instagram reel, referring to themselves as part of the “Championship Owners” call, where they discussed their respective ventures in football.
Ownership of Swansea City
Snoop Dogg became a co-owner and investor in the Welsh soccer team Swansea City on July 18, marking his entry into the English football scene.
“Welcome to the beautiful world of English football, where grown men cry over ties,”
Brady humorously remarked during their online interaction. In the post, Snoop acknowledged the playful rivalry, saying,
“I’m here for the culture, passion, and chaos, and to get back at Brady for all those Super Bowls he stole from my team.”
Tom Brady’s Ownership Role
Meanwhile, Brady has also joined the ranks of sports team owners. On August 3, coincidentally his birthday, he became a minority owner and was appointed chair of the advisory board for Birmingham City, partnering with Knighthead Capital Management LLC.
“I’ve won a lot of Super Bowls… the rules are simple: win enough games, and you move up; lose too many, and you’ll drop out. It’s a brutal game,”
he explained.
Playful Challenges and Future Showdowns
In a playful challenge directed towards Brady and McElhenney, who has been co-owning Wrexham since September 2020 alongside Ryan Reynolds, Snoop Dogg extended an invitation, saying,
“Let me know when you guys want to come to Swansea. I’ll have the kids ready and my playlist set up!”
This banter suggests a potential future showdown among these celebrities, each representing their own soccer teams.
