The Mustangs gained momentum in the first half, taking control of the game around the midpoint. Edwards was instrumental, scoring 17 points before halftime, which allowed SMU to head into the locker room with a 45-36 advantage.
As the second half progressed, SMU maintained their lead, reaching up to a 47-36 advantage. Despite a 10-3 run from Wake Forest, reducing the deficit to just four points at 50-46 early in the half, the Demon Deacons struggled to close the gap further.
A pivotal moment came when Jaron Pierre Jr. nailed a three-pointer, extending SMU’s lead to 89-67 with just under four minutes left in the game.
Pierre finished with 13 points, while fellow teammates Boopie Miller and Jaden Toombs contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Wake Forest’s Efforts
