In a thrilling matchup on Tuesday night, the Seattle Torrent emerged victorious against the Toronto Sceptres, clinching a 6-4 win that ended their three-game losing streak. Lexie Adzija played a pivotal role in the game by scoring Seattle’s inaugural short-handed goal of the season during the third period, which secured the lead for her team.

Record-Breaking Performance

This victory also set a new record for the Torrent, marking the highest number of goals scored in a single game by the franchise to date, with six goals also tying the PWHL season record for goals in a single game.

The game featured a remarkable total of ten goals, the highest in the PWHL this year, surpassing the previous record of eight goals from an earlier game between Minnesota and Seattle. Jessie Eldridge contributed significantly with a goal and two assists, while Hannah Bilka supported the effort with a goal and an assist. Other scorers for the Torrent included Hilary Knight, Julia Gosling, and Megan Carter, who notably scored her first career goal, making history as the first defender to score for Seattle this season. Carter’s goal came in the third period, increasing Seattle’s lead to 5-3.

Toronto’s Efforts

On the opposing side, Toronto saw goals from Blayre Turnbull, Jesse Compher, Kali Flanagan, and Natalie Spooner, despite their efforts falling short. The Sceptres had recently ended a four-game losing streak with an overtime win against Vancouver but faced a tough challenge from Seattle as they found themselves initially leading 2-0 less than three minutes into the game. Turnbull scored just 78 seconds into the match, with Compher quickly adding another goal, before Flanagan netted a goal late in the second period to tie the game at 3-3.

Looking ahead, the Sceptres are set to visit Vancouver this Thursday, while the Torrent will take on the same team at Ball Arena in Denver on Saturday as part of the PWHL’s Takeover Tour.
