Scheduled for a New Era: Adam Azim’s January Fight in London

by November 26, 2025

Adam Azim’s Upcoming Fight

On January 31, Adam Azim is poised to return to the ring in London, where he may face a ranked opponent within the top 15 of the junior welterweight division, as confirmed by promoter Ben Shalom to ESPN. Although an agreement has yet to be finalized, Boxxer is reportedly close to securing an opponent for Azim’s first appearance on the BBC.

Recent Performance

The young boxer, aged 23, recently displayed impressive form by defeating American Kurt Scoby on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn II earlier this month. Azim dominated that match, winning every round and ultimately finishing Scoby in the 12th round via stoppage.

Trainer’s Insights

Trainer Shane McGuigan expressed some concerns following the fight, noting the challenge of attracting willing opponents for Azim due to his rising star power. He remarked,

“Not many fighters are eager to face someone like him, who can take a shot, excel in close combat, and box effectively from a distance. They often perceive the risk as being too high.”

Promoter’s Optimism

Despite these hurdles, Shalom remains optimistic about Azim’s upcoming fight, emphasizing that it will be a significant occasion for the fighter.

“Headlining on BBC Two at the end of January is a massive milestone for him,”

Shalom stated. He also reflected on Azim’s performance against Scoby, indicating it might resonate well with audiences, including those in the United States. Shalom believes that Azim has not received adequate recognition for his talent, claiming he is among the most skilled boxers in the UK and has the potential to transition from a promising prospect to a household name.

Current Rankings

Currently, Adam Azim holds a ranking of No. 9 in the WBC super-lightweight category and holds No. 10 rankings with both the IBF and WBO, underscoring his position as one of the emerging talents in British boxing.
