Sara Errani Shifts from Tennis to Padel at Rome Event after French Open Exit

Sara Errani’s Career Transition to Padel

In a significant career shift, Sara Errani, the former finalist of the French Open, is set to transition from traditional tennis to padel. This change comes directly after the conclusion of Roland-Garros, where Errani recently secured a wild card entry for the upcoming Premier Padel event at Foro Italico, scheduled for next week.

Errani’s Experience and Achievements

At 38 years old, Errani has a wealth of experience, having reached the semifinals in both the women’s doubles with her partner Jasmine Paolini, and mixed doubles alongside Andrea Vavassori during her time in Paris. Errani, in partnership with the 20-year-old Giulia Dal Pozzo for the Italy Major, is excited about this new chapter.

Her accomplishments in tennis include a memorable run at the Paris Olympics, where she won a gold medal in doubles, as well as clinching two successive titles at the Italian Open held at the same venue.

Transitioning from Tennis to Padel

Having already expressed her intent to fully immerse herself in padel once her tennis career comes to an end, the recent loss in qualifiers at the French Open marked her final appearance in singles competition. However, she has confirmed her commitment to continuing doubles play with Paolini.

Errani’s previous notable moment in tennis history includes her defeat in the singles final of the 2012 French Open against Maria Sharapova. Furthermore, she has participated in two professional padel tournaments this year in Australia and Dubai, signaling her growing presence in the sport.
