San Jose Sharks secure Ty Dellandrea with a two-year extension

San Jose Sharks Extend Ty Dellandrea’s Contract

In a move to strengthen their roster, the San Jose Sharks have announced a two-year contract extension for forward Ty Dellandrea, valued at $3.25 million. This new deal, made public on Friday, secures the 25-year-old player with the team until the conclusion of the 2027-28 NHL season.

Dellandrea’s Performance and Injury Update

Dellandrea, who is currently recovering from a lower-body injury sustained on January 6, has contributed two goals and nine assists across 42 games this season. Prior to his injury, he distinguished himself as a key player among the Sharks’ forwards, demonstrating his faceoff skills with a 52.3% win rate and ranking second on the team with 117 hits and 36 blocked shots. His short-handed time on ice also placed him as one of the most utilized forwards for San Jose.

Career Overview

Before joining the Sharks prior to last season, Dellandrea spent his first four years in the NHL playing for the Dallas Stars, amassing 17 goals and 44 assists throughout his 261-game career.

Goaltender Update

In another development for the Sharks, goaltender Laurent Brossoit has been called up from the AHL to fill in for Yaroslav Askarov, who is dealing with a minor lower-body issue. Brossoit, who has a total of 118 career NHL starts, has not seen action in the league since the 2023-24 season and joined San Jose earlier this year through a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks.
