San Diego FC Bans 33 Fans Following Violent Incident
In a decisive move following a violent incident involving fans, San Diego FC announced that 33 individuals will face indefinite bans from all club events and Major League Soccer (MLS) matches. This decision comes in the wake of a disturbing altercation between supporters of San Diego FC and the LA Galaxy that erupted after their match last Saturday at Snapdragon Stadium.
Eyewitness footage captured the chaos, which not only occurred in the stands but also spread into adjacent parking areas, resulting in injuries among attendees.
Club’s Commitment to Safety
San Diego FC has stated that it is actively working in collaboration with authorities from Snapdragon Stadium, MLS, the LA Galaxy, and local law enforcement to accurately identify those responsible and enforce these bans.
“Our review into these troubling events is ongoing, and we may take additional measures if necessary, “
the club noted in its official statement.
The organization emphasized its commitment to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all fans.
“We aim to foster a passionate, inclusive, and secure atmosphere, where fans can unite as one community to honor the sport they cherish,”
the statement read.
“Violence has no place in our game, and we are urging all supporters to reflect our club’s values and help maintain the integrity of the matchday experience. Violations of the MLS Fan Code of Conduct can lead to dire repercussions, including expulsion from the stadium and possible bans.”
Previous Incidents and Upcoming Matches
This isn’t the first such incident for the new MLS expansion team. Earlier, in April, similar disputes broke out among fans during a match against LAFC, prompting San Diego FC to denounce the violence at that time as well.
San Diego FC is set to return to the field this coming Saturday, hosting Austin FC at Snapdragon Stadium, aiming to move forward while reinforcing its commitment to a positive fan experience.
