Sam Noakes vs. Abdullah Mason: A Championship Showdown

Sam Noakes is confident that his physical strength will be the key factor in his upcoming bout against Abdullah Mason for the vacant WBO world lightweight championship. The fight is set to take place this Saturday in Saudi Arabia.

Fighter Profiles

Noakes, an undefeated 28-year-old from Maidstone, England, comes into the match with a record of 17 wins, 15 of which have ended by knockout. He faces Mason, a promising 21-year-old fighter from Ohio, also undefeated with 19 wins, 17 of those by knockout.

Mason, known for his slick southpaw style, was recently recognized as one of the top up-and-coming talents in boxing, earning the No. 6 spot in ESPN’s Top 25 Under 25. Despite Mason’s accomplishments, including a knockout victory last year where he was briefly knocked down himself, Noakes believes the fight will favor his own experience and physicality, particularly in the later rounds.

Experience vs. Youth

Having previously worked as a roofer, Noakes has demonstrated his endurance by completing two 12-round fights. Meanwhile, Mason has yet to surpass six rounds in his professional career, which Noakes believes will work to his advantage as the bout progresses.

“It feels like the perfect time for me to challenge for a world title. He may think he’s ready, but I’m convinced there will only be one victor in the ring.”

Noakes acknowledges Mason’s technical ability and speed but maintains that his own physicality will prove essential. He remarked,

“He’s a solid fighter and very quick, but we will see how he performs as the rounds pass. My goal is to wear him down, and I’m looking forward to testing his limits in the later stages of this championship fight.”
