Buffalo Sabres vs. Utah Mammoth
In their ongoing homestand, the Buffalo Sabres are set to face off against the Utah Mammoth, featuring player JJ Peterka, on Tuesday. Unfortunately for the Sabres, they have been dealing with injuries that have affected their lineup.
Injury Updates
Winger Zach Benson was absent on Saturday due to a lower-body injury, and during Monday’s practice at KeyBank Center, two more forwards were missing.
Center Jiri Kulich and seasoned winger Jason Zucker did not participate in practice. Kulich had played only one shift during the Sabres’ recent 4-3 shootout win against Washington, while Coach Lindy Ruff noted that Zucker is currently dealing with an illness, making him doubtful for the upcoming match.
“Kulich is just dealing with an issue that he couldn’t play through. Zucker is sick, so I think he’s doubtful for tomorrow too,”
— Coach Lindy Ruff
Roster Considerations
Buffalo is contemplating their options due to this setback. They had recently called up winger Isak Rosen, who made an immediate impact by scoring his first NHL goal against Washington. With the uncertain status of both Zucker and Kulich, it’s plausible that Mason Geersten could be added to the fourth line.
Additionally, the team may consider recalling center Noah Ostlund again, or possibly deploying a strategy of 11 forwards and 7 defensemen as Ruff evaluates his options going forward.
