Calgary Flames Announce Contract Extension for Head Coach Ryan Huska
The Calgary Flames have formally announced a two-year contract extension for head coach Ryan Huska, allowing him to stay with the team until the end of the 2027-28 season. This decision was revealed on Thursday, as the Flames prepare for Huska’s third season at the helm.
Huska was appointed as head coach in June 2023, and under his guidance, the team recorded a 41-27-14 finish last season, which unfortunately marked their third consecutive miss of the playoffs.
Support from Management
General Manager Craig Conroy expressed his support for Huska, highlighting the positive culture he has fostered within the team and the progress they have made. In a statement, Conroy remarked:
“His communication, work ethic, and dedication to player development have been exemplary. We have faith in his vision and believe he is the right person to lead our franchise into the future.”
Huska’s Journey with the Flames
Having been a part of the Flames organization since the 2014-15 season and stepping into an assistant coaching role in 2018, Huska has been pivotal in shaping the team’s identity over the years. In his own words, Huska conveyed his appreciation for the chance to continue as coach, expressing confidence in the team’s character and potential:
“I believe in this group and am excited about the direction we are heading as we build on the foundation we’ve laid down thus far.”
