Ruben Amorim Supports Bruno Fernandes’ ‘Lazy’ Performance Critique for Manchester United

Support for Accountability

In Atlanta, Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has publicly supported Bruno Fernandes’ remarks regarding the team’s lackluster display during their recent 2-2 draw with Everton. Fernandes did not mince words, describing aspects of the performance at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday as “lazy.”

Encouraging Improvement

Following the match, Amorim affirmed that he encourages his players to hold each other accountable, a stance he believes is vital for fostering a culture of improvement at Old Trafford.

“I’m pleased for the players to have that perspective,” Amorim stated, noting that it reflects their awareness of the team’s current challenges.

He praised the positive atmosphere established during their pre-season preparations, explaining that the team is poised to return to Carrington with a strong resolve to enhance their gameplay ahead of the new season. “We acknowledge that we still need to improve on many fronts,” he added.

Transfer Window Insights

Fernandes also expressed hope to sign additional players as the transfer window approaches its conclusion, indicating that the club should aim for “one or two more” recruits. This comes after United’s investments of £133 million in new talent, including Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, the latter having made his debut against Everton. The club is reportedly still pursuing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

Optimism for the Future

In response to the potential for more signings, Amorim remarked,

“A team can always grow stronger with more additions, but we have sufficient talent within the squad to foster competition. We’re capable of improving with what we already have, and I am very optimistic about this club’s future.”

Negotiations for Sesko are still in progress, as RB Leipzig is also engaging with Newcastle United, which has presented an official offer for the young striker.

Commitment to Recruitment

Before the game against Everton, Manchester United’s Chief Executive Officer Omar Berrada mentioned that the recruitment team is tirelessly working to make further enhancements to the squad.

“Our team back home, led by Jason [Wilcox], is dedicated to identifying opportunities to strengthen our lineup,”

Berrada explained on MUTV.

“We are involved in numerous discussions early and late to ensure we remain proactive in our efforts.”
