Golden Knights’ Development Camp: Day Two Highlights

As the second day of the Golden Knights’ Development Camp unfolded, the atmosphere on the ice buzzed with renewed energy from the participants, who appeared more at ease after their initial day of practice. Among the notable talents showcasing their skills was Trent Swick, a returning player whose determination was particularly noteworthy.

Trent Swick: A Rising Star

Standing at an impressive 6-foot-7, the 21-year-old left-winger from St. Catharines, Ontario, has garnered attention since being chosen by the Vegas Golden Knights in the sixth round (180th overall) of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Just recently, on March 1, 2025, the organization solidified their commitment to him by signing him to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Impressive Performance with Kitchener Rangers

Swick wrapped up his fourth season with the Kitchener Rangers, where he excelled as an alternate captain. His performance was highlighted by a standout total of 61 points, which included 27 goals and 34 assists, contributing to a +11 rating during the regular season. He continued to impress in the playoffs, adding 14 points with 7 goals and 7 assists.

Personal Growth and Future Potential

Reflecting on his growth over the past two years, Swick stated,

“I’m a completely different player now. I didn’t really believe in myself before, and now I do. I also pretty much put on probably 25% of my mass from two years ago. I just need to learn how to move with that mass and be able to be quick with it.”

His ability to identify open areas in coverage, coupled with his precise passing, shines through in his gameplay. Swick’s knack for drawing defenders closer before maneuvering to exploit passing lanes showcases the significant progress he has made. With such developments, he appears poised for a promising future within the Golden Knights organization, emphasizing his potential as a vital player moving forward in his career.
