During this substitution, Doncic appeared to shy away from a fist bump offered by Redick, prompting the coach to walk alongside him down the sideline.
As Doncic settled onto the bench, he exchanged some words with Redick before the coach moved back toward the court. This exchange created some tension, as Doncic was seen standing up shortly after, seemingly addressing Redick again, while teammate Jarred Vanderbilt positioned himself nearby in a supportive gesture.
Doncic’s Performance and Redick’s Comments
Fortunately for LA fans, Doncic returned later to score a game-leading 26 points, leading to the Lakers’ victory over the Pelicans with a score of 110-101 on Tuesday. Redick later mentioned,
“I don’t know why it went viral. It felt very normal to me. I didn’t think much of it at the time, to be honest with you. I don’t think Luka did either.”
He further emphasized the positive nature of their communication, stating,
“He and I have a great relationship. I really value our relationship. And I think those things happen.”
