Real Madrid’s Concert Plans at Santiago Bernabéu
Real Madrid is aiming to reintroduce concerts at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium as the renovation project draws to a close this year, according to a recent announcement from the club. This comes on the heels of a staggering reported income of €1.185 billion for the 2024-25 fiscal year, marking a notable 10% increase from the previous period.
Financial Performance and Renovation Updates
Details of the financial status were disclosed by the club’s board following a season where they fell short of winning major trophies but reached the semifinals of the Club World Cup under the leadership of new head coach, Xabi Alonso.
The extensive renovations of the Bernabéu, which have been underway for six years, are nearing completion. However, a previous halt on concert scheduling last year due to nearby residents raising concerns about noise levels created delays. In a statement regarding the financial reports, Madrid mentioned that the final touches on the stadium will occur during the 2025/26 financial year. These touches will include enhancements to noise management for concerts and various catering services.
Future Concerts and Revenue Streams
There is optimism surrounding the revival of concert events at the venue, contingent on approvals that comply with local noise regulations. The club believes that this will further enhance revenue streams associated with VIP seating, the RM Experience, and other marketing efforts linked to the stadium. Notably, Real Madrid plans to host an NFL game, which is anticipated to draw additional interest.
Concerts, which were temporarily suspended in September 2024 following a few successful events, such as one featuring Taylor Swift, may soon return with improved sound control measures. Not only does the club’s income reflect a strong financial performance, but it also reported a profit after tax totaling €24.3 million, an increase from €15.6 million in the previous year. Furthermore, Real Madrid’s cash reserves have surged to €166 million from €82 million in the last fiscal year.
Renovation Costs and Financial Outlook
It’s important to note that the reported income excludes expenditures related to the stadium’s ongoing renovations. The club separately accounts for the costs associated with these improvements, which have totaled approximately €1.347 billion up to June 30, 2025. The current outstanding debt related to the renovation project stands at €1.132 billion, as noted by the club.
This financial trajectory positions Real Madrid not only as a giant in the world of soccer but also as a significant player in the entertainment sector, aiming to create a multifaceted venue for both sports and concerts moving forward.
