Rashford expresses interest in teaming up with Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal

Marcus Rashford’s Aspirations

Marcus Rashford has expressed his aspiration to eventually share the pitch with Barcelona’s emerging talent, Lamine Yamal. At 27 years old, Rashford faced a challenging season last year, spending the latter half on loan with Aston Villa after losing his spot in Manchester United’s starting lineup.

Transfer Interest and Options

According to reports from ESPN, Manchester United is currently open to offers for Rashford, with clubs such as Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, and Bayern Munich showing interest, alongside various Premier League teams.

Interview Insights

In a recent interview on the Spanish YouTube channel xBuyer, Rashford was asked about the prospect of playing with the 17-year-old Yamal. He responded eagerly, saying, “Yeah, for sure. Everybody in the world wants to play with the best. Hopefully … We’ll see.”

Yamal has rapidly established himself as a remarkable talent in football, contributing significantly to Spain’s victory at Euro 2024 and playing a key role in Barcelona’s success in LaLiga last season.

Praising Young Talent

Rashford praised Yamal’s performances, noting, “It is difficult to put into words what he is doing. He is not supposed to be doing that at 16, 17 [years of age].”

Future Possibilities

Meanwhile, as the summer transfer window progresses, Rashford is preparing for the possibility of returning to Manchester United’s training sessions next month if no transfer materializes. Despite the interest, no formal offers have been made to the club yet.

As it stands, Rashford, whose existing contract runs until 2028, is slated to report back to United’s Carrington facilities for preseason practice in July. Last season, while on loan at Villa, Rashford netted four goals in 17 appearances and has since earned a call-up to the England national team from new head coach Thomas Tuchel for upcoming World Cup qualifying matches in March.
