Proposal for Lauren Price to Challenge Mikaela Mayer for Undisputed Title

by November 26, 2025

Upcoming Bout Announcement

Promoter Ben Shalom announced to ESPN that a significant offer has been extended for a bout between Lauren Price and Mikaela Mayer, aiming for an undisputed welterweight title clash set for next year. This anticipated fight was initially scheduled for an earlier date but ultimately fell through.

Fighter Profiles

Price (9-0, 2 KOs), the reigning champion with titles from IBF, WBA, and WBC, is poised to face Mayer (22-2, 5 KOs), who currently holds the WBO title. In a move that has generated buzz, Mayer recently transitioned to junior-middleweight, where she claimed the WBC, WBO, and WBA championships following a victory over Mary Spencer in October. Despite this shift, Mayer remains eager to challenge Price for the undisputed titles at 147 pounds.

Future Plans

As Price looks to return to the ring in Cardiff this coming February — her first fight in almost a year — she has her sights set firmly on Mayer afterwards. Shalom shared insights on a previous offer made back in July for the matchup to take place in the U.S., which was turned down due to financial terms that Price’s management deemed unsuitable.

“The money was not something that Lauren’s management felt was appropriate for that fight, and I tend to agree with her,”

Shalom stated. He added that they have made another proposal for Mayer to compete at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall, although they are yet to receive an acceptance.

Background of the Fighters

At 35 years old, Mayer is a distinguished three-division world champion who first rose to prominence in the super-featherweight category. She began her professional career in 2017 after representing Team USA in the Rio 2016 Olympics. On the other hand, Price, 31, is still relatively new to the professional scene, having made headlines with her illustrious amateur career that included gold medals at both the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2019 World Championships.
